Back for another on-location edition of our ‘Match of the Week’ illustration series, currently in Saigon, Vietnam.

This fantastically violent, bloodbath of a 'Hell in a Cell' match took place last week, on October 5th, 2024, at the State Farm Arena, in Atlanta, GA.

So hell has apparently frozen over & I’ve gone & done my first ever World Wrestling Entertainment addition to this series. Not something that I would ever had expected, but this match ruled so darn hard that there really was no question about it.

To me, this match was everything a heated blow-off to a blood-feud should be. The crowd was electric from start to finish. Punk & Drew went WAY harder than I think anyone would have expected. Almost like they had something to prove after some less than ideal prior bits of this rivalry. And oh man, THE BLOOD! Dude, that hard-way crimson mask on Drew after the tool box!!

It really is so gratifying seeing the mainstream company get away from their standard, squeaky clean, ‘Disneyfied’ image. Getting back to the gritty roots of actual Professional Wrestling. Even hearing Cole & Graves talking about the rich history of Pro Wrestling in Atlanta, this taking place on the site of the long-time home of Atlanta Wrestling, The Omni. That Buzz Sawyer vs Wild Fire 'Last Battle of Atlanta' Steel Cage Match! …in a lot of ways, it feels like this was such a wonderfully fresh departure from everything I expect of the ‘Up North Territory’. I’ll give credit when it’s due!

I think my favourite moment was when Punk had him in the Anaconda Vice & Drew reached for the wrench, but Punk snatched it away & just repeatedly brained him in an uncomfortably vicious fashion. This was what hatred should look like in wrasslin’!

So, so BLOODY GREAT! Highly recommended!!
