Happy New Year friends! I’m currently moving house, but that won’t stop the first ever 2025 instalment of our ‘Match of the Week’ illustration series!

This delightful 'Dos De Tres Caidas' Lucha Libre Mexicana bout took place on April 21st, 2024, on CMLL’s weekly Sunday show at ArenaMexico. So I enjoyed the heck out of this! Especially for a Sunday show. I hear they may have had an even better match in January - but this is the one I happened to watch & loved everything about it! These dudes have crazy good chemistry!!

Barbaro Cavernario has really been so great for so long. Really a guy who doesn't seem to get anywhere near his due on an international stage. And the latest addition to the Mascara Dorada lineage (previously known as Panterita Del Ring Jr./son of fantastic rudo, Ephesto) is just an absolute prodigy! Someone for everyone to keep an eye on in the coming years & hopefully a key building block for 'El Consejo' for many years into the future.

In conclusion, two of my current favs, bringing the best out of one another. 2/3 falls - as it should be! For me this is what 2024 Lucha Libre is all about! So much fun!!
