It's that day of the week again & time for the latest in our regularly scheduled 'Match of the Week' illustration series. This week, the very first following our big move out of the city & up to the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

This classic hard-hitting, gruff Never Openweight Championship (& AEW International) bout took place just last week, on January 4th, 2025 at NJPW's big, annual Wrestle Kingdom event at the prestigious home to big-time Puroresu epics; the Tokyo Dome.

So this was officially my favourite match from the big 1.4 show. Having just moved, I'll admit that I haven't quite watched as much Pro Wrestling as I normally do but this one really did make me so darned happy to watch. ...I will make a special note to say that Finlay vs Tsuji was rad too - very much blowing away my expectations.

I loved this one because it really did feel like that throwback, smash-mouth 1.4 Never title match of years gone by for me. Akin to those Shibata/Ishii/Makabe Never classics that I adored.

This had so many fun & interesting & awe inspiring bits to it. It also was compact in its' run-time - just a non-stop adrenaline ride!

In conclusion, this rocks! Give it a watch!!
