"M.O.T.W. #76: Rey Hechicero vs Bárbaro Cavernario" - ink & digital illustration

This delightfully insane Lucharesu thrill-ride took place on February 28th of this year, on Day 8 of New Japan & CMLL's FantasticaMania 2025 at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo.

So a lot of the time, there's nothing that I love more than an epic, grandiose Professional Wrestling match full of nuance & terrific subtleties. I also love wild, ridiculous, 'dumb' matches that are just a whole bunch of fun. ...this was definitely the latter, but man it sure was fun!

There were some absolutely outrageous & likely wholly unnecessary bits to this. But it brought me so much joy nonetheless! Reminded me of those same feelings I get from some of my favourite crazy ECW, CZW, FMW, IWA-MS matches of years gone by.

I also really loved the weird & wonderful combination of these totally wild, death-defying feats with the way-cool llaveo submission stuff everyone would expect out of the llave-maestro; Hechicero.

This just made me really happy to watch! I'm so grateful that the concept of FantasticaMania exists to gift us matches like this! I definitely need to make my way through more of this years' tour but this was an excellent starting point.

...this is certainly getting me excited for Mexico later this month, I'll tell you that!!
